Introduction to the Role

Davis & Shirtliff Group, East Africa’s leading supplier of water and energy solutions, is seeking a technically proficient and results-oriented Digital Solutions Support Engineer to join its Nairobi-based Digital Engineering Solutions team. This role is pivotal to the deployment, support, and optimization of enterprise-grade digital technologies across the region.

Role Purpose and Key Responsibilities

The Digital Solutions Support Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end implementation, training, and post-deployment support of digital hardware and software systems across the organization and its clientele.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Training & Support

  • Conduct comprehensive training sessions for internal staff and external clients on deployed digital systems
  • Create and distribute technical documentation and user guides
  • Provide ongoing technical support to ensure system uptime and optimal performance

Sales & Pre-Sales Engagement

  • Support the commercial team during the sales process with technical demonstrations and product walkthroughs
  • Work collaboratively to convert prospects into clients through solution-focused discussions
  • Offer real-time technical advisory to support tender documentation and solution pitching

Deployment & Integration

Lead or participate in the deployment, configuration, and testing of the following systems:

  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) platforms
  • Internet of Things (IoT) solutions
  • Smart and Prepaid Metering Systems for electricity and water
  • Power Monitoring and Control Infrastructure
  • Data Centre Infrastructure support, monitoring, and optimization

System Optimization and Maintenance

  • Troubleshoot and resolve system errors, performance bottlenecks, or connectivity issues
  • Recommend and implement best practices for system scaling, backups, and resilience
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve infrastructure performance

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain comprehensive records of system architecture, configurations, upgrades, and incidents
  • Report on client training, deployments, and support cases handled monthly
  • Participate in post-deployment reviews to assess client satisfaction and lessons learned

Candidate Profile: Qualifications and Requirements

Academic and Technical Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in digital engineering support, system integration, or industrial automation
  • Strong background in Operational Technology (OT) and ICT Networking
  • Proven deployment experience with SCADA, BMS, metering, or IoT platforms
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols, such as Modbus, BACnet, or MQTT

Technical Proficiency

  • Excellent command of network architecture, routing, and security protocols
  • Experience in system configuration, firmware updates, and endpoint monitoring
  • Exposure to scripting or automation tools for monitoring or remote diagnostics is a plus

Soft Skills and Attributes

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically under pressure
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage client relationships professionally and diplomatically
  • Self-driven, resourceful, and capable of working independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license is mandatory
  • Willingness to travel regionally for system installations, training, and site support
