Key Responsibilities

Financial Analysis and Transaction Preparation:

  • Conduct preliminary financial assessments of renewable energy projects and target companies across Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Develop intricate financial models for both M&A and project finance transactions, utilizing Excel and VBA.
  • Prepare investor materials including teasers, information memoranda, and transaction briefs.
  • Assist in financial due diligence through comprehensive review of financial statements, contracts, and market reports.

Transaction Execution:

  • Liaise daily with lenders, investors, and internal client teams to coordinate information flow.
  • Facilitate Q&A processes during due diligence stages.
  • Support negotiation processes involving legal agreements, commercial terms, and financial structures.
  • Track transaction timelines and deliverables to ensure timely execution.

Strategic Research and Internal Development:

  • Conduct market research on renewable energy trends, policies, and regulatory developments.
  • Assist in drafting client pitches and internal strategy documents.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge databases and marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Finergreen teams across Nairobi, Abidjan, Cape Town, and Paris to share insights and optimize transaction outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills

Academic Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree (Master 2 level) in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, or Engineering with strong financial expertise.
  • Exceptional academic record from a recognized institution with relevant coursework in financial markets, renewable energy, or corporate finance.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 12+ months of internship applications experience in investment banking, private equity, financial advisory, or asset management.
  • Exposure to infrastructure finance or renewable energy transactions is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Sub-Saharan African markets offers a distinct advantage.

Technical Competencies:

  • Advanced financial modeling proficiency using Excel, VBA, and forecasting tools.
  • Strong accounting and financial analysis abilities across income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow models.
