The Relationship Manager – Corporate Banking role is a senior commercial banking position responsible for driving growth, profitability, and risk-managed lending within the corporate banking portfolio. The role focuses on identifying, acquiring, and managing high-value corporate clients while ensuring compliance with the bank’s credit policies, profitability objectives, and regulatory requirements.
The Relationship Manager will act as a trusted financial advisor to corporate clients, structuring credit facilities, negotiating pricing, defending proposals at Credit Committee level, and leading a team of Account Officers to deliver strong portfolio performance.

Key Responsibilities
Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
- Draw up structured work schedules for identifying, targeting, and marketing prospective corporate banking customers.
- Maintain strong public relations with existing and prospective corporate clients to deepen relationships and improve retention.
- Plan, execute, and report on marketing calls and relationship development activities for the corporate banking unit.
Credit Structuring & Portfolio Management
- Structure credit facilities to address customer needs while aligning with the bank’s risk appetite and profitability objectives.
- Prepare, review, and refine credit proposals in collaboration with the Group Head.
- Present and defend credit proposals before the Credit Committee.
- Monitor and ensure customer compliance with credit agreements and approved facility terms.
Revenue Growth & Profitability
- Negotiate foreign exchange pricing and credit rates with customers within approved limits to maximize bank profitability.
- Achieve self Performance Contract Evaluation (PCE) targets and annual business performance goals.
- Monitor unit performance against monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.
Team Leadership & Capacity Building
- Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentorship for Account Officers.
- Appraise the performance of supervised Account Officers and support their professional development.
- Promote strong team performance, collaboration, and accountability within the unit.
Reporting & Budgeting
- Prepare the unit’s annual budget for consolidation and incorporation into the Group budget.
- Prepare and present the Unit’s Monthly Profitability Report (MPR) to the Group.
- Prepare periodic performance and portfolio reports for the Regional Head.
Governance & Administration
- Ensure adherence to internal credit policies, risk management standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Corporate Banking.
