Key Responsibilities

• Aircraft Marshalling:
  • Marshal aircraft into and out of bays/parking spaces to support flight turnaround schedules for arrivals and departures.
  • Guide flights safely into allocated bays using standard procedures.
• Safety Inspections:
  • Inspect bays for Foreign Object Debris (FODs) to ensure safety for aircraft, passengers, ground crew, and equipment.
  • Check the apron for hazards, oil spills, and FODs to maintain a secure airside environment.
• Operational Support:
  • Operate the Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) and lead service vehicle (Follow Me Car) to assist aircraft positioning.
  • Operate passenger boarding bridges for safe embarking and disembarking of passengers.
• Traffic Control:
  • Control ground flight movements using International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and recommended practices.
  • Direct safe movement of passengers, vehicles, equipment, and operators at the airside.
• Data Management:
  • Upload air traffic movement data into the Airport Operations Database (AODB) or Daily Aircraft Movement Records (DAMR).
  • Collect and record data on aircraft handled for management decision-making and billing purposes.
• Safety Enforcement:
  • Enforce airside safety standards, including ICAO, IATA, and other recognized regulations.
  • Oversee aircraft refueling to ensure compliance with safety requirements and report incidents/accidents on the ramp.
• Equipment Operation:
  • Dock and retract air bridges to ensure passenger safety during boarding and deboarding.
  • Use aeronautical radio telephony to monitor and coordinate aircraft movements.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Grade C (Plain) or equivalent; C- (Minus) for marginalized areas, minority groups, and persons with disabilities.
• Additional Qualifications: Certificate in Airport Operations is an added advantage.
• Experience: Working experience in Ground Flight Safety is preferred.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in computer applications for data entry and record-keeping.
