Key Responsibilities

As a bartender at GMC Place, your daily responsibilities will focus on delivering excellent customer service while preparing and serving beverages in compliance with hospitality and regulatory standards.

Customer Service

  • Provide prompt, friendly, and professional service to guests, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience
  • Engage with customers by taking drink orders, recommending beverages, and addressing inquiries or concerns
  • Handle customer complaints tactfully and escalate issues to the Bar/Lounge Manager when needed

Beverage Preparation and Service

  • Prepare and serve a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including cocktails, beers, wines, and soft drinks
  • Follow standard recipes and presentation guidelines to ensure consistency in quality and portion control
  • Refill stock and bar garnishes regularly to avoid service interruptions during busy hours
  • Maintain cleanliness of the bar area, including wiping down surfaces, polishing glassware, and organizing bar tools

Bar Operations

  • Assist with opening and closing bar procedures according to company protocols
  • Track and report low inventory levels to the Bar Manager in a timely manner
  • Support private events or functions by setting up and preparing drink stations as instructed
  • Follow operational procedures and comply with the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act and all relevant Kenyan regulations

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Practice safe handling of food and beverages following government and organizational health protocols
  • Adhere to all licensing requirements concerning alcohol service and consumption
  • Participate in mandatory alcohol awareness and food safety training
  • Ensure bar area remains clean, sanitized, and organized at all times to meet health inspection standards

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with fellow bartenders, waitstaff, kitchen, and management to deliver a seamless guest experience
  • Communicate effectively during service to coordinate timely delivery of orders
  • Assist in training and mentoring of new bar team members as directed by the Bar Manager

Additional Duties

  • Take on any other assignments as requested by the Bar Manager to enhance operational success
  • Support restaurant staff during peak hours by offering assistance where needed

Minimum Qualifications and Certifications
