Key Responsibilities
1. Tyre Cost Analysis and Monitoring
- Analyze and track costs related to tyre procurement, repairs, maintenance, retreading, and final disposal.
- Identify inefficiencies and propose cost-reduction strategies across multiple company yards.
- Compare budgeted vs actual expenditure and investigate significant variances.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting
- Develop and manage budgets for tyre-related expenses by yard, vehicle type, and route.
- Forecast tyre replacement needs based on historical usage, wear patterns, and operational requirements.
- Coordinate with procurement and yard managers to align forecasts with business goals.
3. Inventory Management and Stock Optimization
- Monitor tyre inventory across all yards to prevent overstocking or understocking.
- Reconcile physical stock with ERP records and identify discrepancies.
- Track tyre movements between locations and ensure accurate logging of installations, rotations, and disposals.
4. Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare monthly and quarterly cost reports, including KPIs like cost per kilometre, tyre lifespan, and consumption trends.
- Support audit processes by maintaining up-to-date documentation on all tyre-related financial transactions.
- Assist in compiling financial statements tied to tyre expenditure and fleet operations.
5. Lifecycle and Usage Optimization
- Collaborate with operations teams to analyze the full lifecycle cost of tyres.
- Recommend retreading or recycling strategies to extend tyre usability and reduce waste.
- Advise on terrain-specific procurement strategies to ensure optimal performance and cost-efficiency.
6. Vendor and Contract Oversight
- Evaluate supplier proposals and negotiate contracts for the purchase and servicing of tyres.
- Monitor vendor performance against SLAs and report any cost or quality deviations.
- Ensure vendor invoices align with actual deliveries and services rendered.
7. Process Improvement and Standardization
- Develop standardized workflows for tyre cost tracking and reporting across all company yards.
- Train yard supervisors and inventory staff on financial documentation and compliance standards.
- Promote automation of recurring tasks through ERP modules and inventory software.
8. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the finance liaison to yard managers, fleet supervisors, and procurement officers.
- Provide training and feedback to operational staff on cost-conscious tyre use.
- Present analysis findings to senior leadership to guide strategic decision-making.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Academic and Professional Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA, CMA, or ACCA certifications are a significant advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in cost accounting within manufacturing, logistics, or transportation sectors.
Technical and System Proficiency
- ERP expertise, preferably in systems like SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, conditional formatting, and data visualization.
- Familiarity with tyre or fleet management software is a plus.
Analytical and Soft Skills
- Strong numerical and analytical abilities for accurate cost allocation and trend identification.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, especially for explaining financial data to non-finance teams.
- Problem-solving mindset and a proactive attitude toward cost control.
