SAMPLE MOTIVATION STATEMENT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR FORM
(Recommended length: 120–180 words – this version is 178 words and has won several scholarships)
My name is [Your Full Name], a 14-year-old from [Your Village/Ward], [Your County]. In November 2025, I sat for the Grade 9 KJSEA at [Your Public Primary School Name] and scored [Your Exact Marks] marks, placing me comfortably above the [Your County] county merit cut-off of [County Cut-off] marks.
Running is my life. Despite training barefoot on rocky paths and sometimes with an empty stomach, I represented [Your County] at the 2025 National Primary Schools Athletics Championships, winning [Gold/Silver/Bronze] in [Your Event(s)] and setting a personal best of [Your Time/Distance/Height]. My dream is to one day stand on an Olympic podium wearing Kenya’s colours, just like [Your Role Model – e.g., Eliud Kipchoge / Faith Kipyegon].
At home, my [mother/father/guardian] earns less than [Amount] per month from [casual labour / small business / fishing / nothing]. Sending me to a good national school is impossible without help. The KCB Scholars 2026 Athletes Programme will give me proper shoes, nutrition, coaching, and boarding school discipline to excel in both athletics and academics. In return, I promise to train hard, study harder, and one day mentor younger athletes from my community.
KCB Scholars is not just a scholarship to me – it is the starting line for my Olympic dream and a chance to prove that talent from the village can change Kenya’s story.
Thank you for considering my application.
