Introduction
The Kenya BioVax Institute Ltd (BioVax) is a State-owned enterprise under the Ministry of Health mandated to manufacture, commercialize, and ensure access to safe, effective, and affordable vaccines and biologics for the Kenyan population and the region. BioVax operates within a high-impact mission focused on national health security and self-sufficiency in life-saving health commodities.
To strengthen its operations and uphold global standards in health manufacturing and logistics, the Institute seeks to recruit qualified and experienced professionals to fill three re-advertised vacancies. Available Vacancies
The following positions are open for re-application by interested and qualified individuals:
1. Senior Quality Assurance Officer – Job Grade KBI 6
- Vacancy Code: KBI/01/05/2025
- Number of Positions: 1
Role Purpose: To implement, maintain, and continuously improve quality assurance systems aligned with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), WHO standards, and relevant national and international regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate quality management systems, compliance audits, and documentation processes
- Implement GMP, ISO standards, and internal audit procedures
- Oversee batch record reviews and deviation reporting
- Collaborate with production, QC, and regulatory teams to uphold quality standards
- Conduct root cause analyses and develop CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions)
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ work experience in quality assurance in pharmaceutical or vaccine manufacturing
- Knowledge of WHO GMP, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or other quality systems
- Familiarity with Kenyan regulatory requirements for biologics and vaccines
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and documentation skills
2. Senior Driver – Job Grade KBI 10
- Vacancy Code: KBI/02/05/2025
- Number of Positions: 1
Role Purpose: To provide secure and efficient transportation of personnel and materials in accordance with institutional guidelines and traffic laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport senior staff, guests, and institutional documents or materials
- Ensure safety and cleanliness of assigned vehicles
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and preventive maintenance
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and trip records
- Report accidents, incidents, or required maintenance promptly
Qualifications and Experience:
- KCSE Certificate (minimum D plain)
- Valid Class BCE driving license with PSV endorsement
- Certificate of Good Conduct from DCI
- At least 5 years of experience as a driver, preferably within government, healthcare, or large institutions
- Certification in defensive driving or first aid is an added advantage
3. Driver II – Job Grade KBI 11
- Vacancy Code: KBI/03/05/2025
- Number of Positions: 1
Role Purpose: To provide support in the day-to-day delivery, pickup, and safe transportation services to the BioVax Institute.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive staff and guests to various destinations in a timely manner
- Adhere to traffic regulations and institutional safety protocols
- Maintain cleanliness and mechanical soundness of assigned vehicles
- Assist with minor logistical duties where applicable
- Monitor vehicle performance and schedule regular servicing
Qualifications and Experience:
- KCSE Certificate
- Valid driver’s license (Class BCE or equivalent)
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency calls after hours
- Strong interpersonal and team support capabilities
