Key Responsibilities (Detailed by Role)

Driver – EMT (ERF0161)

This is a critical role at the intersection of emergency medical care and transportation logistics. The Driver – EMT is responsible for the safe and professional operation of ambulances and ensuring rapid, reliable response to medical emergencies across the Thika region.

Primary Duties:

Operate ambulances with professionalism, maintaining safety protocols and proper client handling.
Perform emergency response interventions including basic life support (BLS), airway clearance, and patient stabilization at accident or emergency sites.
Maintain vehicle readiness, including fueling, tire pressure checks, oil level monitoring, siren/lights checks, and general cleanliness.
Ensure ambulances are stocked with emergency kits, oxygen tanks, first aid supplies, and updated documentation.
Complete logs and reports accurately, including mileage tracking, trip sheets, fuel records, and service checklists.
Coordinate with dispatch to respond to scheduled and emergency trips, including inter-facility transfers.
Manage patient care documentation en route to hospitals and assist medical professionals during handover.

Claims Assurance Officer (ERF0162)

The Claims Assurance Officer role is essential to Avenue Healthcare’s revenue integrity. The officer ensures that insurance claims are processed accurately, completely, and on time to reduce rejections and revenue leakage.

Primary Duties:

Validate patient insurance details before services are rendered, including pre-authorizations, NHIF QR codes, and diagnosis verification.
Monitor claim completeness, ensuring all clinical and administrative documentation is present.
Supervise client service desks for compliance with SOPs in billing, coding, and system use.
Conduct ongoing trainings for front office and medical staff regarding insurance policies, changes, and documentation requirements.
Analyze trends in claim rejections and implement preventive measures.
Liaise with clinical, finance, and IT departments for seamless billing workflows.
Coordinate directly with insurance companies to resolve pending claims.
Generate daily and weekly performance reports detailing success metrics and challenges.

Claims Assurance Assistant (ERF0163)

This is a support role focused on documentation, system reconciliation, and liaison work to improve the claims cycle. The assistant supports the Claims Assurance Officer in verifying, preparing, and dispatching insurance claims.

Primary Duties:

Review and complete pre-authorization forms for accuracy and compliance
Generate accurate invoices, matched to insurance authorization and service documentation
Submit claims physically or digitally, maintaining an updated dispatch log
Assist in the reconciliation process by verifying remittances vs submitted claims
Track delayed or rejected claims and help in documentation correction
Serve as a liaison between front office, clinical, and finance teams
Maintain compliance with data protection laws in claims handling

Receptionist – Contract (ERF0164) & Permanent (ERF0165)

Primary Duties:

Greet and register patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information
Handle admission and discharge processes, including system entries and form management
Coordinate with insurance providers to confirm coverage and issue pre-authorizations
Ensure call management, routing inquiries and calls to relevant departments
Maintain reception records, including patient logs and appointment schedules
Resolve client concerns or escalate complaints where necessary
Support patient confidentiality through all interactions

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum Requirements by Role:

Driver – EMT: EMT Certificate, valid license, 2+ years of ambulance experience

Claims Assurance Assistant: Diploma in Accounts/Health Records/Admin, 1–2 years in healthcare finance
Receptionist: Diploma in Front Office/Health Records, 2+ years in customer service, preferably healthcare
