Key Responsibilities
Each Technician role — whether plasma, gas cutting, or MIG welding — comes with specific duties, but all share a commitment to precision, safety, and quality workmanship.
1. Plasma Cutting Technician
- Operate CNC or manual plasma cutting equipment to fabricate steel and metal components as per specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical manuals to guide cutting procedures.
- Set up and calibrate plasma cutting machines to ensure high precision and material efficiency.
- Perform routine maintenance on plasma equipment, replace consumables, and report major technical faults.
- Inspect cut components for accuracy, straightness, and edge quality in line with project tolerances.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area according to occupational safety standards.
- Document all operations and maintain logs of cut times, material usage, and production quality.
2. Gas Cutting Technician
- Handle oxygen-acetylene torches and other flame cutting equipment for sheet metal and heavy-duty component cutting.
- Measure and mark material to guide the flame cutting process with precision.
- Adjust flame settings to match material type and thickness for optimal results.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of gas cylinders, regulators, hoses, and related accessories.
- Work closely with welders and assemblers to ensure compatibility between cut parts and final assembly.
- Adhere to strict safety procedures and wear protective gear to avoid burns and inhalation hazards.
- Troubleshoot cutting defects and implement corrective action where necessary.
3. MIG Welding Technician
- Perform high-quality MIG welding on structural steel, aluminum, and stainless steel parts.
- Select appropriate wire feed speed, voltage, and shielding gas settings for different welding applications.
- Execute tack welds, full seam welds, and overhead welds as per fabrication designs.
- Grind, clean, and prepare joints and metal surfaces to ensure optimal fusion.
- Follow welding codes and standards (such as AWS D1.1) and ensure compliance with project specs.
- Perform regular inspections and tests on welds for porosity, cracks, and structural integrity.
- Collaborate with foremen, fabricators, and quality control inspectors for continuous process improvement.
Qualifications and Skills

General Requirements (All Technician Positions)
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in a related technician role.
- Ability to read blueprints, technical diagrams, and job orders.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to measure with precision tools such as calipers and gauges.
- Good communication skills and teamwork spirit.
- Flexibility to work extended hours and meet tight production deadlines.
- Physically fit and able to handle the demands of industrial fabrication tasks.
Specialized Requirements per Role
Plasma Cutting Technician
- Experience operating CNC plasma cutting machines or handheld plasma torches.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and machine programming is a plus.
- Ability to handle various thicknesses of steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
Gas Cutting Technician
- Skilled in oxy-fuel flame cutting with an understanding of material combustion rates.
- Certification in gas cylinder handling or safety training is an added advantage.
MIG Welding Technician
- Certified or experienced in MIG welding processes, particularly in metal structure assembly.
- Familiar with wire feed machines, welding rods, and welding positioners.
- Ability to pass internal welding qualification tests or provide past weld samples.
