Key Responsibilities

As the Project Management Lead, you will take end-to-end ownership of project lifecycles. Your primary objective will be to deliver projects on time, within scope, within budget, and to world-class standards. Specific duties include:

  • Develop a comprehensive project charter that articulates clear objectives, timelines, budgets, and key stakeholders.
  • Create detailed project documentation covering scope, feasibility, schedule, resource allocation, and quality benchmarks.

  • Spearhead and manage the entire design process including concept development, detailed engineering drawings, and final blueprint submissions.
  • Lead the procurement process across Expression of Interest (EOI), Request for Proposal (RFP), and tendering phases.
  • Design and maintain a robust project plan using MS Project, tracking milestones, deliverables, and dependencies throughout the lifecycle.
  • Deploy verification methods and control mechanisms to ensure change requests in scope, cost, or schedule are justified and effectively managed.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements with vendors, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure value maximization for the organization.
  • Mitigate potential delays and financial risks through ongoing risk analysis, contingency planning, and early-warning systems.
  • Coordinate site activities, monitor implementation progress, and maintain effective channels of communication among stakeholders.
  • Lead project testing, commissioning, and successful handover to the operations and maintenance teams.
  • Generate measurable project management revenue in alignment with contractual goals and performance indicators.
  • Drive value creation and uplift by optimizing cost-efficiency, site utilization, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Evaluate project performance through KPIs and project management tools to ensure data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

The Project Management Lead role is tailored for individuals with both technical training and real-world field experience. Ideal candidates will meet the following qualifications and skillsets:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Sciences, or another construction-related field.
  • Professional certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP®, PRINCE2®, PMI-ACP®).
  • 2–3 years of hands-on experience in managing end-to-end construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working in active construction sites, with understanding of safety, compliance, and operational logistics.
  • Strong financial literacy, with proven capacity in budget development, project costing, and value engineering.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and other project control tools.
  • Excellent organizational and stakeholder management skills, including vendor oversight, consultant coordination, and statutory compliance.
  • Ability to multi-task, lead site teams, resolve bottlenecks, and align diverse interests toward project success.
  • Familiarity with Kenyan construction regulations, permit processes, and building codes.
