In support of its mission to nurture future industry leaders, CEKL is inviting applications for a 6-month Solar Sales Internship for graduates with a technical background and strong interest in renewable energy commercialization. This opportunity is ideal for ambitious young professionals eager to combine their engineering expertise with high-impact customer engagement.
INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVES & GROWTH PATH
This internship will equip you to:
- Refine sales acumen by learning from solar and power-sector veterans
- Engage in value-based solution selling through real customer interactions
- Develop strategic problem-solving by navigating client needs and objections
- Enhance cross-functional teamwork by collaborating with technical support, engineering, and customer care teams

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
From day one, you will take ownership of important sales development tasks under the guidance of experienced professionals. You will be embedded in a supportive, fast-paced team and expected to contribute meaningfully.
Your typical responsibilities will include:
- Conducting needs assessments and establishing rapport with new and existing clients to understand solar power requirements
- Carrying out technical site surveys for residential and commercial solar system installations
- Preparing and delivering compelling product presentations that align with CEKL’s engineering and design offerings
- Drafting quotations and proposals in response to site survey results and client specifications
- Demonstrating solar system performance benefits, cost savings, and long-term ROI to prospective clients
- Visiting prospects across sectors—commercial buildings, schools, hospitals, and SMEs—to showcase catalogs, discuss use cases, and build trust
This role will involve both office-based coordination and field exposure, including remote site visits where required.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
To be eligible for this internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Engineering, or other related disciplines
Technical Proficiency:
- Familiarity with solar PV systems, batteries, energy storage, and water heating technologies
- Previous internship or academic project work in renewable energy is highly desirable
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (data analysis) and PowerPoint (presentation development)
Behavioral Competencies:
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and reliable in task execution
- Positive mindset, enthusiastic about customer engagement and green energy impact
- Strong verbal and written communication in English; ability to translate technical benefits into commercial value
- Demonstrated collaborative spirit, eager to work across departments and learn continuously
- Capacity to work independently, prioritize, and solve problems under guidance
Additional Eligibility:
- Not more than 2 years post-university experience
- Kenyan citizens or authorized to work in Kenya
