Key Responsibilities

• Program Management: Manage the Rural Entrepreneur Access Project (REAP), supporting low-income youth to start businesses and improve living standards.
• Mentorship: Provide ongoing mentoring to an agreed number of small business enterprises, offering guidance and support.
• Participant Selection: Collaborate with communities and BOMA Location Committees to identify eligible youth using established criteria.
• Business Support: Meet with business groups, assist in decision-making, and deliver business and savings skills trainings.
• Data Collection: Survey individuals to collect data on living standards, savings group participation, and other relevant metrics.
• Representation: Act as BOMA’s representative in the designated location, including local development committees.
• Reporting: Report business and savings group performance to the Field Officer.
• Field Visits: Conduct a minimum number of weekly visits to business and savings groups, uploading data monthly.
• Business Planning: Help youth develop viable business plans and track performance.
• Community Collaboration: Foster peer-to-peer knowledge sharing between participants and non-participants for inclusive development.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Minimum Diploma in Community Development, Social Work, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Youth Development, or a related field.
• Certification: Training in coaching, mentoring, or business development (e.g., youth entrepreneurship, financial literacy) is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in livelihood, community development, or youth-focused economic inclusion programs; data collection experience is a plus.
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of microenterprise development, savings groups (VSLA), and basic financial literacy.
  • Valid motorcycle license with riding experience (or obtain within 3 months).
• Interpersonal Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to relate with participants and the Field Officer.
  • Self-driven with ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Other Requirements: Must be a native of Jaldesa or Maikona ward, fluent in English, Swahili, and the local language.
