Key Responsibilities

As a Kiswahili or C.R.E. Teacher, your role will extend beyond the classroom. You will support students’ academic and character development while actively contributing to school life through extracurricular mentorship and spiritual guidance.

Teaching and Curriculum Delivery

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the CBC for Kiswahili or C.R.E., incorporating learner-centered approaches.
Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and instructional materials tailored to meet student needs and curriculum requirements.
Use a variety of teaching methods including group work, storytelling, role play, and digital learning tools to enhance classroom interactivity.
Ensure comprehensive coverage of learning outcomes, formative and summative assessments, and continuous learner evaluation.

Classroom Management and Student Mentorship

Establish clear rules and procedures for classroom behavior and maintain a supportive, disciplined, and productive learning environment.
Foster values-based mentorship, encouraging respect, honesty, compassion, and hard work among students.
Provide guidance and counseling to learners, particularly adolescent girls, ensuring psychosocial wellness.

Co-Curricular Involvement

Take part in co-curricular activities including debate, Christian Union, cultural clubs, or sports.
Encourage students to participate in academic contests, inter-school exchanges, and literary festivals.

Record-Keeping and Reporting

Maintain accurate records of students’ attendance, grades, progress, and discipline.
Provide regular academic updates to parents, guardians, and school leadership.

Attend internal and external workshops, CBC training, and curriculum review meetings.

Qualifications and Requirements

Academic & Professional Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Education from a recognized institution with specialization in Kiswahili and/or C.R.E.
Valid TSC Number (Teachers Service Commission registration is mandatory).

Curriculum and Pedagogical Requirements

Full compliance with CBC curriculum standards.
Must demonstrate competence in competency-based teaching, classroom differentiation, formative assessment, and use of learner portfolios.

Experience

Prior teaching experience in a CBC-compliant Kenyan school is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to inspire and challenge students to achieve high academic and ethical standards.
