Key Responsibilities
The Driver/Rider will be responsible for the following core functions:
Logistics & Transportation Duties
- Pick up and deliver clothes, uniforms, and other fabric items to and from client locations including homes, offices, hotels, and retail branches.
- Map out delivery and pick-up routes using GPS navigation tools and real-time traffic information to ensure timely arrival.
- Maintain accurate records of daily trips, client drop-offs and pickups, and any delivery discrepancies.
- Secure packages properly within the vehicle or motorbike to prevent damage or contamination.
Customer Service & Client Engagement
- Greet clients professionally upon arrival and departure.
- Collect garments with a smile, offer help where needed (e.g., carrying items), and confirm pick-up slips or digital confirmations.
- Provide delivery status updates via SMS or company app.
- Relay customer complaints, special requests, or queries to the customer care or branch supervisor.
Safety, Maintenance & Operational Compliance
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle or bike inspections, reporting any faults or damages to management.
- Ensure road safety regulations are adhered to strictly at all times.
- Maintain the cleanliness, roadworthiness, and branding of assigned vehicle or bike.
- Maintain logbooks, fuel slips, and mileage reports as required by the company.
Interdepartmental Support
- Assist laundry staff with loading/unloading cargo, especially during high-volume days.
- Coordinate with logistics supervisors to resolve routing issues.
- Contribute to team meetings on operational improvements and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications & Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the Driver/Rider role at Lorenzo Dry Cleaners, candidates must meet the following:
Licensing & Legal Requirements
- Valid Driving License – Class B, C or E (for drivers)
- Valid Motorcycle Riding License – Class F & G (for riders)
Experience & Education
- Minimum of 2 years active experience driving or riding in an urban delivery/logistics environment.
- A Certificate or Diploma from a recognized institution (any field acceptable, preference for logistics, automotive, or transport management).
- Demonstrated understanding of Nairobi’s road network, traffic flow, and estate access protocols.
Skills & Attributes
- Exceptional time management and ability to work under pressure.
- Familiarity with smartphone navigation apps like Google Maps or Waze.
- Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
- Team player with a helpful attitude and cooperative spirit.
- Personal integrity, road discipline, and zero tolerance for intoxication while working.
Working Conditions
- This is a full-time position requiring availability six days a week.
- Shifts may begin early or end late depending on customer requests.
- Candidates must be open to flexible working hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Protective gear, branded uniform, and necessary safety equipment will be provided.
- Drivers/Riders will operate from one of Lorenzo’s Nairobi branches and may be required to cover city-wide deliveries.
