Key Responsibilities
Front Desk Clerks / Attendants will support daily hotel operations at the reception desk. They will be responsible for ensuring that guests are warmly received and assisted with efficiency and professionalism.
Primary Duties Include:
- Greet guests warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out procedures
- Operate the Hotelwise system and other front office technologies
- Provide accurate information about hotel services, local attractions, and travel directions
- Handle guest complaints and concerns with tact and professionalism
- Receive incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate department or personnel
- Maintain an updated record of room reservations and availability
- Process payments and manage invoices for walk-ins, bookings, and extra services
- Coordinate guest services such as wake-up calls, transport arrangements, and concierge requests
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk environment
- Liaise with housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments to ensure smooth operations
- Record and relay guest feedback for quality improvement purposes
Qualifications and Skills
Applicants should possess the following qualifications and abilities:
Minimum Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (KCSE certificate minimum)
- Additional certification in Office Administration, Hotel Management, or a related field is an added advantage
Professional Experience:
- At least 1–2 years’ proven experience working as a receptionist, front desk clerk, office assistant, or in a similar customer-facing role
- Prior work experience in the hospitality or service industry preferred
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – especially Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Familiarity with hotel management software – experience using Hotelwise is a strong plus
- Able to operate office equipment including telephones, POS terminals, printers, and computers
Interpersonal and Organizational Competencies:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Customer-service orientation and a cheerful attitude
- Ability to multitask and manage front desk operations in a busy environment
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Confidence in managing bookings, queries, and escalations
- Team player with discretion, integrity, and professionalism
