Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) was established under Legal Notice No. 233 of 28th November 2018 and is mandated to develop academic and vocational skills for the maritime sector. The institution is committed to producing competent maritime professionals for a sustainable blue economy.

1. Deputy Director, Advancement and Placement

Job Overview:

The Deputy Director of Advancement and Placement will be responsible for leading institutional development initiatives, alumni relations, donor engagement, and placement of graduates. The officer will build strategic linkages and drive funding and career opportunity growth for students and alumni.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies for institutional advancement and graduate placement
  • Coordinate alumni tracking and stakeholder engagement
  • Facilitate fundraising, grants management, and partnership development
  • Promote visibility of academy programs among employers and maritime agencies
  • Supervise the placement office team and manage related KPIs
  • Plan and coordinate career fairs, graduate expos, and employer engagement forums

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business, Public Relations, or a related field (Master’s preferred)

Job Overview:

The officer will be tasked with overseeing communication strategies, brand positioning, media relations, and digital presence for the academy. They will develop marketing content, coordinate events, and ensure BMA’s image is aligned with its mandate. The incumbent will ensure that all external and internal communication aligns with BMA’s vision of becoming a regional center of excellence in maritime training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage internal and external communications, media relations, and digital platforms
  • Develop marketing strategies and tools for student recruitment
  • Coordinate corporate branding and publicity campaigns
  • Oversee production of newsletters, press releases, and marketing collateral
  • Develop and maintain a digital content calendar for the institution
  • Monitor analytics from digital campaigns and provide monthly performance reports
  • Develop speeches and official communication for senior leadership

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or Journalism

3. Trainer, Nautical Science

Job Overview:

The Trainer in Nautical Science will be responsible for delivering technical and academic training to maritime cadets, preparing them for local and international maritime certification and employment. The trainer will also play a key role in maintaining STCW compliance and developing competent seafarers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach STCW and nautical science modules
  • Conduct simulator-based instruction and practical seamanship training
  • Develop training materials and conduct examinations
  • Mentor cadets and participate in curriculum reviews
  • Evaluate cadet performance and maintain academic records
  • Participate in curriculum development and review committees
  • Support accreditation processes and liaise with maritime authorities

Requirements:

  • A Certificate of Competency (CoC) as Master Mariner or equivalent
