1. Innovation Storyteller

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Overview:

As an Innovation Storyteller within the Learning for Life (L4L) programme, you’ll translate data, outcomes, and entrepreneurial stories into compelling, human-centered content across multiple formats—blog posts, photo essays, animations, podcasts, and mini-documentaries.

Key Responsibilities:

• Co-develop and implement a long-term storytelling strategy
• Produce emotionally resonant stories of innovators and health entrepreneurs
• Experiment with immersive media and new content formats
• Engage diverse audiences across Africa’s health landscape
• Create, curate, and manage multi-format content
• Manage digital storytelling channels and campaigns
• Provide creative direction from ideation to execution
• Establish systems for content sourcing and archival
• Track and report impact metrics for storytelling initiatives

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related fields
• 5+ years of experience in storytelling, PR, or digital marketing
• Proven success in delivering impactful storytelling campaigns
• Strong writing and editing skills, with ability to translate technical material
• Creative thinking and strong project management skills

Preferred:

• Familiarity with global health, entrepreneurship, or innovation sectors
• Proficiency in French is an advantage

2. Research Grant Development Officer (Re-advertised)

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Role Purpose:

To lead the development of competitive research proposals that align with Amref International University’s strategic vision of transforming into a research-focused institution. You will work with USC’s Institute for Inequality in Global Health and Amref faculty.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and prioritize research funding opportunities
• Write compelling concept notes and grant applications
• Coordinate proposal development with finance, faculty, and partners
• Align budgets and technical inputs with funder expectations
• Ensure compliance with grant requirements and post-award activities
• Lead donor mapping, data collection, and fundraising intelligence
• Build internal grant-writing capacity and mentor junior researchers

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or related fields
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in grant proposal writing
• 2+ years’ experience working with NIH or major funders
• Excellent research, writing, and editing skills
• Budget development and compliance understanding

3. Research Analyst

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Role Summary:

The Research Analyst will work within the Learning for Life (L4L) programme to assess health entrepreneurship ecosystems and develop strategies to position health as a growth industry for African youth.

Key Duties:

• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research
• Analyze data, trends, and policy developments
• Map startup models and funding pipelines in health innovation
• Support development of strategic documents and roadmaps
• Produce insights through reports, dashboards, and infographics
• Collaborate with MEL teams to track programme performance
• Facilitate learning documentation and knowledge sharing

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Political Science, International Relations, or related fields
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in strategy, research, or analytics
• Strong quantitative and qualitative data skills (e.g., Excel, Python)
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• High degree of organization, flexibility, and self-drive

Preferred:

• Master’s degree
• Experience in entrepreneurship or health innovation sectors
• Proficiency in French
